The accused was still under interrogation and police wanted to know whether the explosives were meant for a suicide attack or other kind of blast.

Police handed over the 6.1 kilograms of explosives and hand grenades to the bomb disposal squad and registered a case against the accused.

The bomb disposal squad said that the explosives were very dangerous and could automatically catch fire if exposed to open air.

HASHISH SEIZED: The excise and taxation department foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of hashish via Quetta to Iran and arrested two alleged smugglers on Indus Highway here on Saturday.

The officials of the department said that they intercepted a truck bound for Quetta on a tip-off. They recovered hundreds of kilograms of hashish from the secret cavities of the vehicle.

The officials impounded the truck and handed over hashish and the arrested persons to Riaz Khan Shaheed police station for investigation. The excise and police department officials took sealed samples from all the five bags to present them before the judge along with the alleged smugglers in the court on Monday.
