KARACHI, Oct 11: A property dealer was shot dead in a Surjani Town locality in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.

They said that the 60-year-old property dealer, Masoom Ali, was buying bread at an eatery in Surjani Town’s Sector L-1 when assailants riding a motorcycle emerged there, opened fire on him and fled.

They said that the victim sustained bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died during treatment.

The police suspected that the killing was either motivated by some personal feud or was related to a property deal.

A case (FIR 556/2011) was registered at the Surjani Town police station under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the victim’s son, Mansoor Ali, against unidentified attackers.

Meanwhile, two people were killed in as many hit-and-run accidents in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

Police said that a fast-moving car hit a motorcyclist, 18-year-old Hasan Raza, near Jauhar Chowrangi. He was shifted to a hospital where he died.

Another motorcyclist, 40-year-old Nadeem Jamil, was knocked down to death by a hit-and-run driver in Bilal Colony, Landhi.
