RAWALPINDI, Oct 11: An Elite Force commando was gunned down by armed men who broke into his house at Ahmadabad locality on Tuesday evening. His younger sister was also shot at and injured.

The Saddar Berooni police said Tahir Mehmood, the Elite Force official posted at the police line headquarters, had quarreled with one Manzoor alias Joora over a petty issue on Tuesday morning. However, the matter was resolved by residents of the locality.

Police Inspector Malik Sohail said the alleged killer along with six to seven armed men broke into the house of Tahir and attacked the inmates, injuring him and his sister Sobia, 21. However, Tahir's father averted the attack by locking himself in a room.

The injured were taken to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where Tahir was pronounced dead. However, his sister, who sustained bullet wounds to her leg, was out of danger.

The gunshots created panic in the area and the residents called the police. However, the attackers had escaped when the police arrived. — Staff Reporter
