LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 15: Two persons were killed in separate incidents while police claimed seizing narcotics and weapons from the hideouts of anti-social elements in different parts of the district.

In Michenkhel locality of Lakki city, Noor Azam was shot dead by his rivals over a land dispute,” an official said on Thursday.

The official said the killers identified as Yousaf Khan, Yaseen Khan and Hamidullah escaped after the incident while police registered a case against them.

In another incident a man died when a pick-up van overturned near Wanda Kalan on Lakki-Tajazai road the other day. “The mishap reportedly took place due to over-speeding,” the official maintained, saying the passenger van was going to Lakki city from Tajazai.

The deceased was identified as Ameen Jan, resident of Lakki city. His body was shifted to city hospital and later it was handed over to relatives after fulfilling formalities.

Meanwhile, following the instructions of DPO Gulzar Ali Khan a police party headed by SHO Gul Nawaz Khan carried out surprise raids on the houses of proclaimed absconders in Jabukhel, Agari Khanzadkhel and Ghaznikhel villages.

“The raids were conducted on the houses of proclaimed absconders, including Tajamal Shah, Adam Khan, Latifullah and Wahidullah, wherein police recovered a rifle, a shotgun and two daggers,” the official said. He added the outlaws could not be arrested as they were not present in their houses.

The official added police also arrested two men identified as Sanaullah and Qalam Shah in Ghaznikhel and seized 1,135 grams hashish from them. “Cases were registered against the arrested outlaws.”

TORTURE CONDEMNED:

Local journalists have condemned the political administration of Kurrum Agency for arresting and torturing their colleagues in Parachinar.

At a meeting of district press club on Thursday chaired by president Hafiz Minhajud Din the participants demanded of the government to take notice of the incident and punish the officials involved in the attack on journalists.

They said tribal journalists were facing problems in carrying out their professional obligations in a free and peaceful environment. They said arrest and torture of journalists in Parachinar by political administration officials was a condemnable act as it was aimed to stop media men from covering a press conference against administration.
