KARAK, Aug 24: The anti-corruption unit of Karak district has lodged an FIR against the district agriculture officer for his alleged embezzlement of over a million rupees and formed special teams for his arrest.

The unit sources told this correspondent here on Wednesday that the circle officer of anti-corruption unit Abdus Sattar Khattak had started investigations against district agriculture officer Zahirullah Khan Khattak on public complaints and found embezzlement of over one million rupees in the repair of tractors and other farm machineries.

The probe was launched on the directives of the unit director Nisar Ahmad Khan Tanoli.

The sources claimed that the officer had inflicted over a million rupees loss on the national exchequer on account of repair of machineries and the corruption against him had been proved.

The circle officer had registered an FIR with the anti-corruption unit against Zahirullah Khattak under Section 420, 468 and 471.

ONE KILLED: A motorcyclist was killed and four other people were injured in two separate road accidents here on Wednesday, police said.

They said that in the first incident two motorcycles collided on Sabirabad road near Chandni Chowk and one person Sajid died on the spot while three others, including Zahir, Umer Gul and Anwar, were seriously injured.

The injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital, Karak, where doctors referred one Zahid to Peshawar in precarious condition.

In the second incident, a car collided with an oil tanker on Indus Highway on Wednesday. As a result, Prof Manzoor Iqbal, who was driving the car, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the district headquarters hospital, Karak. Doctors have confirmed that Mr Iqbal is in critical condition.
