LAHORE, Aug 9: A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday granted bail to two accused involved in the Sialkot lynching case.

Accused Qaisar and Shams through their counsel submitted that the prosecution attributed a role of provoking the villagers to kill two brothers, Mughees Sajjad and Muneeb Sajjad. The counsel pointed out that his clients were not nominated in the FIR and even the police had not known their correct names. He pleaded that the police implicated the petitioners on mala fide intention but failed to establish the allegation against them.

After hearing the arguments, the bench headed by the chief justice allowed bail petitions and issued release orders of both the accused subject to furnishing of surety bonds.

Mughees and Muneeb were killed by a mob in Sialkot in the presence of the police officials.

Many policemen and others were booked following registration of a case on the directions of higher authorities of the province.
