HYDERABAD, Nov 1: Hyderabad district Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has said that the district government has planned to establish a girls cadet college very soon, for which land has been acquired.

He said that the college scheme would follow establishment of a cadet college for boys in the city.

He was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of a hostel for girls students of the Public Girls Higher Secondary School here on Friday.

He said that the government was giving top priority to girls’ education to raise the social status of women and to involve them in nation-building activities.

He said that the purpose of providing accommodation facilities to girls students at the public school was to provide an opportunity to the girls of rural areas to acquire education in the city.

Responding to the demands raised by the students, the Nazim announced to provide an air-conditioner for their common room and to construct a playground in the school premises.

The DCO, Hyderabad, and co-chairman of board of governors of the school, Mir Hussain Ali, said that two blocks of the school hostel were being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs29.5 million to provide accommodation facilities to 170 girls students.

He said that construction of two more blocks of the hostel was envisaged under the plan to meet growing needs of the school in future.

He said that the school management was going to invest Rs2.5 million on the project, in addition to Rs20 million allocation by the Sindh government and Rs seven million announced by the government during inaugural ceremony of the scheme held last month.

The project engineer, Abdul Hafiz Mughal, said that construction of the hostel would be completed in 18 months and added that building of school and hostel would be one of the best buildings in Sindh province by virtue of its design.
