SAHIWAL, July 17: People will get meat at controlled rates in near future at new meat markets being developed in Farid Town and Faridia Park.

This was stated by Sahiwal Commissioner Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq while talking to the media during a visit to the meat market on Sunday.

The commissioner said there were 366 meat shops, including 223 chicken, 55 mutton, 77 beef and 11 fish in the city. “These shops are scattered in different parts of the city and most of them don’t sell meat at controlled price.

Hygiene at these outlets is another issue. That is why the district government is developing two meat markets in the city. As many as 116 shops will be available in the markets.”

The commissioner said allotment of shops would be made in a transparent manner and all nearby meat sellers would be asked to have shops at new place. He directed the tehsil municipal administration to monitor cleanliness there.
