LAHORE, June 20: South Cantonment investigation police claim to have resolved the murder case of a middle-aged man and arrested his daughter and her lover.

Cantonment SP (Investigation) Amin Bokhari told Dawn that police began investigation to trace the suspects who shot dead Shafaqat Ali alias Soni Jutt at his house in Nai Abadi Rehmatpura, Bedian Road, on May 21, 2011.

He said complainant Arshad Ali suspected involvement of Muhammad Naveed Malik of Javed Colony, Chungi Amar Sidhu, in the murder as the suspect had developed relations with victim's daughter Misbah.

The SP said during investigation Naveed disclosed to the police that Misbah herself had killed her father when he was asleep and had sought his (Naveed's) advice before executing the plan.

The SP said police took Misbah into custody who confessed to murdering her father in abetment with Naveed.

She told the police that her father under the influence would return home at night. Misbah said she was extremely upset about her father's act and finally decided to get rid of him.

On the night of the incident, she said she picked her father's pistol and shot him in the head when he was asleep. She then handed over the pistol to Naveed. BOY KILLED:

An eight-year-old boy was killed after hitting the rod of a swing in Haider Colony of Chuhng on Monday.

Nasir, son of Mahmood, was playing on the swing in the street when he suddenly jumped and his head hit its iron rod. He suffered a critical injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

The police handed over the body to the family.
