PESHAWAR, June 6: A woman was on Monday shot dead inside her residence at Nauthia in limits of Gulberg police station allegedly by her former husband for remarrying.

Quoting a complainant, Akbar Khan, husband of the woman, Chshman Bibi, a police official said she had been killed by her former husband, Salman Shah of Sherpao village of Charsadda.

The official said the accused had divorced her about 20 years ago and she had remarried but her former spouse was not happy with her remarriage and used to send her life threats. On Monday morning, she was alone at her home when the accused entered her house and opened indiscriminate fire at her. She died before being shifted to hospital.

The official said one of the accused was identified as her own son, Israr, who was a child when she was divorced.

The official said both the accused escaped after killing the women. A murder case against them had been registered.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two persons who had been recovered from agriculture fields in Chamkani area were handed over to their relatives after they recognised them at a local mortuary on Monday, police said.

The victims were identified as Ashfaq, son of Sabz Ali and Manzoor, son of Nasrullah of Darra Adamkhel.

An official told this correspondent the decomposed bodies seemed to have been thrown in the area of Tarnab Farm about four days ago. Quoting the relatives of the deceased, he said they avoided nominating accused in the case.

However, they disclosed that the victims had been kidnapped from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency four months ago.

The official said there was no sign of violence on the bodies and actual cause of their death could be ascertained after the medical report.
