PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has finalised wheat procurement arrangements as in some areas the process to purchase wheat from farmers has already begun.

According to an official statement issued here on Tuesday, 22 wheat procurement centres have been established in different districts.

The statement said the wheat storing facilities across the province had been cleaned and sprayed.

For the first time CCTV cameras have been installed at these centres to ensure the wheat purchasing activities were transparent.

The CCTV cameras would be supervised by the food department officials.

The provincial government has also introduced an app for monitoring the wheat procurement process.

The government has allocated Rs29 billion to acquire wheat from farmers at Rs3,900 per 40kg bag.
