KARACHI, May 28: Talented Talha Zubair Surmawala lived up to his reputation when he tamed Hassan Siddique in a three-set duel to land the juniors’ under-18 title in the 14th Anti Tobacco Day tennis tournament at Modern Club on Saturday.

Second seed Talha was, however, given a tough time by his opponent before imposing to 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 victory in the final.

Ibrahim Iltifat also struggled to beat Hassan Farooq 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to win the boys’ under-14 crown.

Results: Men’s singles: Quarter-final: Yasir Khan bt Asadullah Khan 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Semi-finals: Aqeel Khan bt Omer Shahid 6-0, 6-2; Nomi Qamar bt Yasir Khan 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Juniors’ under-18 singles: Final: Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Hassan Siddique 6-0, 6-7, 6-1.

Boys’ under-14 singles: Ibrahim Iltifat bt Hassan Farooq 6-2, 6-1.

Men’s doubles: Semi-finals: Aqeel Khan and Nomi Qamar bt Danish and Mubashir 6-2, 6-1; Yasir Khan and Saif Noor Sumar bt Asad Bhagat and Ali Bhagat 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Ladies singles: Semi-final: Sehar Khawaja bt Neha Adnan 6-4 – Neha retired.
