LAHORE, May 19: A police constable was shot dead allegedly by his maternal nephews following a jewellery dispute in Qasim Ground of Garhi Shaho on Thursday.

Police inquiries showed that 42-year-old Abdur Razzaq, who was posted at the Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Lines, was shot at and wounded by his nephews Mehmood and Farooq and their unidentified accomplice after exchanging hot words.

The suspects, residents of Shakargarh, entered the victim's house on late Wednesday.

Razzaq had earlier alleged that the sister of Mehmood and Farooq had stolen gold locket of his wife Iqbal Bibi.

Razzaq succumbed to his injuries at Mayo Hospital. Police have shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of Iqbal Bibi. POISONED:

A 40-year-old man was poisoned allegedly by unidentified swindlers near Yadgaar Chowk on Thursday.

Lorry Adda police said the victim identified as Munir Ahmad was lying unconscious at the chowk when Rescue 1122 rushed him to Mayo Hospital. Munir died after some time.

Police identified the victim with a name written on his right hand. The body was shifted for autopsy. ACCIDENT:

A 45-year-old man was killed after being struck by a speeding vehicle near Attari Darbar Stop in Nishtar Colony on Thursday.

Police said Rizwan Ali, a father of four, was walking along the road when a vehicle hit him. FIRE: Valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a portion of New Taj Hotel, Bund Road, on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 said the blaze erupted in the commercial property of Maqsood Ahmad because of a short circuit.

In another incident, a fire broke out in a gas pipeline at Bahar Colony of Kot Lakhpat.
