HYDERABAD, May 18: A woman and her son were gunned down by six persons in the village of Petaro in district Jamshoro in the early hours of Wednesday.

Six persons entered the house of Loung Khaskheli, held the inmates hostages and killed Wakeel Khaskheli, 26. His mother Surraya Khaskheli, 52, was also killed when she tried to protect her son.

They were buried in the village graveyard after post-mortem.

A year ago, Wakeel Khaskheli had eloped with Rukhsana Khaskheli and married her, creating tension between two groups of the Khaskhelis. But on the intervention of influential people, the girl was returned to her parents and married to some one else.

The father of the deceased was also kidnapped after the incident and his whereabouts are still unknown.

Rais Khaskheli, brother of the Wakeel, has registered a murder case against five persons but no one has been arrested so far.
