LAHORE, May 13: A father of five was found murdered in fields in the Burki area on Friday.Reports said a local spotted the body of a man in the fields near Mandiyala village and informed the police.

Quoting witnesses and the family, the police said some unidentified people strangled to death Rafaqat Ali and threw his body in the fields. The police also found torture marks on some parts of the body.

The family claimed that the deceased had no enmity with anybody.

The police shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case.

ACCIDENT:

One person was killed while two others were injured when their car met with an accident on the Motorway in Sherakot on Friday.

Quoting witnesses, Rescue 1122 and police officials said Muhammad Bashir, of Jhang, was coming to Lahore when a truck collided with his car near Ravi Toll Plaza. Bashir died on the spot while two others -- Mohsin and Aftab -- sustained injuries. They were taken to hospital.

The police have registered a case against the absconding truck driver.

FIRE:

Furniture and a huge stock of papers were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a godown in Shahdara on Friday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the fire erupted in the paper-manufacturing factory of Abdul Hameed in Javed Nagar owing to a short circuit and engulfed major portion of the godown.

Six units of the Rescue 1122 extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.
