Boy drowns

ISLAMABAD, May 10: A boy drowned in Korang Nullah on Tuesday, police said.

The victim was playing at the bank of the nullah near Bhara Khau along with his friends when he slipped and fell in it.

His friends shouted for help from the villagers to rescue him, but before aid could come raging torrents swept him away. The Murree Rescue 1122 fished out the body after six-hour-long efforts. The body was shifted to hospital for pending legal process. —Staff Reporter

Bank looted, guards beaten up

ISLAMABAD, May 10: Four armed robbers took away Rs1.3 million from a bank in Islamabad on Tuesday and badly thrashed two security guards who tried to resist the heist, police said.

The armed men entered the Bank Alfalha’s I-9 Markaz branch and made the officials, guards, and clients hostage. But when two of the security guards, Afzal Majeed and Mohammad Naseem, did not surrender their weapons, they were badly beaten, police said.

The robbers took away Rs1.3 million and the cellphones of the bank officials and clients. Quoting the officials and the clients, police said the robbers were speaking Pashto, adding that they were not wearing masks. The investigators have asked for the CCTV recording for identifying the robbers.—Staff Reporter

Man’s throat slit

CHAKWAL, May 10: A man’s throat was slit with a knife by a barber over a minor dispute here on Tuesday. Hafeez Hussain, a resident of Syed Kasran village used to pass by the shop of a barber, Atif Amir. On Tuesday, the barber warned him not to pass by his shop. At this, both exchanged harsh words. Meanwhile, Atif Amir took out a knife and slit the throat of Hafeez Hussain who died on the spot. Jatli police registered a case and started investigation. — Correspondent

Two killed in road accidents

ATTOCK, May 10: Two young boys were killed while two others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in the district.

Police said here on Tuesday that a 15-year old boy, Ahsan, was going on his bicycle when he was hit by a over speeding car near collage Chowk, Pindigheb. As a result he died on the spot, while car driver Nawab Khan was injured and rushed to the hospital. In another incident, a young boy, Mohammad Sohaib, along with his friend was on way to Waisa village by motorcycle which collided with a donkey cart causing serious injuries to both of them. They were rushed to the district headquarters hospital but Mohammad Sohaib could not survive. — Correspondent
