Government College University, Faisalabad, announced various posts of teaching and non-teaching staff a few months back and (according to a university letter delivered to all the candidates) the university received a large number of applications. The university has directed all candidates to (re)apply to the National Testing Service (NTS) for the same posts and submit a sum of Rs500 for each post. It should be noted that all the candidates have already paid a prescribed amount for the posts.

If the university wanted to arrange a written test under the supervision of the NTS, it must have asked the candidates in its first advertisement to apply through the NTS so that candidates could pay the amount only once. And even if the university decided later that the candidates should appear for a written test through the NTS, it should have paid the amount by itself instead of asking the candidates to do that. We are living in a Third World country where underemployment and unemployment are among major social issues.

Keeping in view this scenario, the step taken by the university is like making fun of all those who cannot afford to pay the amount. This condition must be withdrawn in the common interest of all candidates.
