ISLAMABAD, April 19: Taking note of a news item about the “fake degree” of Ogra chairman Tauqir Sadiq, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani directed the cabinet division on Tuesday to hold a special inquiry to determine the facts of the case. According to sources, the prime minister has asked the cabinet secretary, Nargis Sethi, to conduct a departmental-level inquiry and file a report by the next week.

In response to a query of the Islamabad High Court where Mr Sadiq's LLM degree has been challenged, the Higher Education Commission said last week that there was no institution in the UK and the US by the name mentioned as Mr Sadiq's alma mater.

“The institute (American Institute of London) does not exist in USA or Britain,” the HEC replied to the court's query.
