Being an ardent aficionado of Harry Potter books, the movies have never really impressed me in the way the books have done.

However, with every installment the films do get better and better, and the recent part one of the finale is quite good.

It boasts the coolest and most sophisticated special effects. If you were impressed by the Dumbledore’s fight with the inferi in Half Blood Prince, wait till you catch the breathtaking fight between Harry and Nagini at Godric’s Hallow and the narrow escape from the ministry is also a treat to watch. Although as expected, the best is left for the last installment.

The movie begins on a dreary note as Hermione bids a tearful adieu to her parents. On the other hand, Harry makes a farewell tour through number four private drive as he is about to leave it forever. A dramatic escape of the seven Potters, accompanied by the death of Mad-eyed Moody, leads the trio to meet at the Burrow which is bustling with Bill and Fleur’s wedding preparation. Harry, Ron and Hermione are constantly on the watch as they have to run on the first opportunity to begin their hunt for the Horcruxes.

In the meantime, they are visited by the minister of magic who gives common-looking, but enigmatic items bestowed by Dumbledore in his will, to them. The colourful wedding is gatecrashed by death eaters as the ministry falls and the dark lord ascends the throne of the mightiest power in the magical world. The trio escapes in time, and thus begin their quest for the Horcruxes that is seemingly endless and immensely arduous.

The best thing about this movie is that it adheres to the Harry Potter books. Divided in two parts the director has ample opportunity to depict the plethora of magical adventures that the protagonists go through during their expedition. As always, Daniel, Rupert and Emma personify Harry, Ron and Hermione respectively and I wonder how the audience would respond when they would play other roles as the Potter series nears its culmination. So until the final installment hits the screen, enjoy this part which can be watched again and again.— Zahra Hassan
