LAHORE, April 8: Civil Lines police have registered a case against a media group head and his daughter for allegedly committing a fraud of Rs90 million with the Bank of Punjab.

The FIR was lodged on the orders of a local court under sections 406 and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Thursday.

Bank of Punjab Vice-President Salman Rashid alleged in the FIR that Interact Private Limited (located at 12 Lawrence Road) directors including Khabrain Group chief Zia Shahid and Nosheen Imran took equipment, machinery and other items worth Rs90 million on lease from the BoP on Sept 12, 2007, for a news channel.

He alleged that the bank administration later came to know that the accused had embezzled and stolen the leased out items.

When bank officials asked them for inspection of the leased out items, they denied them inspection.

The complainant further stated in the FIR that Zia Shahid and Nosheen Imran had committed fraud and crime.
