KARACHI, March 24: Two youngsters were found shot dead in a Landhi area on Thursday, police said.

They added that the dead had criminal record.

They said Saeed Akbar and Sardar Shah were found shot dead on a street parallel to the Allah Dad ground in Ismail Goth of Landhi No 1.

Some sanitation workers an hour after sunrise spotted the bodies lying abandoned on the road.

“They both were hit by multiple bullets fired from a very close range,” said an official at the Sharafi Goth police station.

“The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico legal formalities and they remained unidentified for more than six hours.”

However, some investigators recognised the victims and traced their family links that established their identity, he said.

Initial findings suggested that the two had criminal records while Sardar had gone to jail on a robbery charge, the police added.

“They were mostly booked in robbery, illegal weapons and drugs charges. Their killings seemed to be a result of infighting within some criminal gangs,” added the official.

Man gunned down

A young man was gunned down in a Landhi locality on Thursday.

The victim, Zeeshan Ghori, in his mid 30s, was shot dead near Chiragh Hotel in Landhi No 1.The police said that the victim received three bullet wounds and died while being treated in the JPMC.

“He was a resident of the Landhi 3-A area and also had a criminal record. He wasn't associated with any political party, but was said to have links with several criminal gangs in the area,” claimed an official at the Landhi police station.

Two more found dead

During the day two more unidentified bodies were found separately in different areas.

The trussed-up body of a youngster was found near Lea Market. He had been shot dead.

“The body was found near Khajoor Market. He was hit by a single bullet in the neck that proved fatal,” said an official at the Kharadar police station, adding that the body after medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital Karachi had been shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

Another young man was found dead with multiple torture marks on his body on the outskirts of Sohrab Goth.

The area police said that the body was found in a journalist society near Ayub Goth.

“The victim was wearing shalwar kameez. An initial medical examination showed that the victim was strangled after severe torture,” said a Sohrab Goth police station official.
