FAISALABAD, March 10: Law enforcement agencies on Thursday arrested three people of a family, one of them a cleric of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, in connection with the suicide car explosion at a CNG station here a couple of days ago, it's learnt.

Sources said intelligence officials and police raided a house in Gobindpura and took into custody UAF prayer leader Khalid, his son Hafiz Usama and brother Zubair. These people were arrested after investigators found their contact numbers in the cell phone of Hafiz Usman, who has already been arrested for his alleged involvement in the suicide attack.

However, police officials did not confirm the arrests.

Earlier, two suspects were taken into custody on the information provided by Usman. COMPENSATION The district administration on Thursday announced a financial compensation for victims of Tuesday's suicide car blast on Mall Road.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was expected to announce a financial compensation for the blast victims and their families during his visit to the city shortly after the blast. But, for unknown reasons he did not announce any compensation during his visit.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nasim Sadiq, at a ceremony held here on Thursday, announced that the heirs of those who died in the blast would be given Rs0.5 million each. The critically injured would get Rs75,000 and those with not-so-serious injuries Rs20,000. The amounts would be given to the victims and their families shortly, he added.

The ceremony, presided over by Commissioner Tahir Husain, was organised at the Arts Council building to award commendation certificates to the officials of different government departments that took part in relief activities after the blast.

The DCO said as many as 18 houses were damaged in the blast.A special cash prize of Rs5,000 was given to constable Ashiq Husain for nabbing an alleged terrorist, Usman.

The commissioner commended the public for extending cooperation to the officials engaged in rescue and relief work.

Certificates were given to officials of revenue, FDA, finance, traffic wardens, police, CIA, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, transport authority and municipal services.
