RAWALPINDI, March 1: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Tuesday took an official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration wing into custody as he was spotted carrying a loaded pistol and 22 rounds at the International Departure Lounge of Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

FIA official Habibullah was carrying weapon inside the prohibited area, when the check-in of a Bangkok flight (PK-892) was underway. Therefore, he was taken into custody and later, was handed over to the FIA for further action.

Later, during preliminary investigation, he revealed that he was asked by his senior officer to give protocol to one of his friends who was leaving for Bangkok.

Additional Director FIA immigration Nasrullah Gondal when contacted said that the official was carrying the weapon 'mistakenly'.

Meanwhile, two women, one of whom was an expatriate were looted by unidentified gunmen who robbed them of British pounds and gold ornaments in different parts of the city on Tuesday, the victims and police said.

The expatriate woman who had arrived from United Kingdom and was on her way to home from Benazir International Airport when was intercepted by three people on board a car near Rawat.

Habibullah, brother of the victim said in his complaint that he was heading towards Rawat after receiving his sister from the airport when three unidentified persons in a car signaled them to stop on the highway.

He said as he stopped the car, the three people identified them as CIA officials and asked for the search of the car. During search, they snatched 900 British pounds from his sister and later sped away.

In another incident, Ms Fauzia along with his brother Muhammad Gulfraz was on her way to home in Gulraiz colony on their motorcycle when three unidentified young boys riding on two motorbikes intercepted them and held them at gunpoint.

The gunmen forcibly snatched gold bangles from her arms and earrings from her ears causing serious injuries. The robbers also snatched Rs4,000 and cell phone from her brother and later sped away.
