KARACHI, Feb 20: Naveed Fazail and Fahad Anwar on Sunday qualified for the men’s singles main draw of the 14th Sindh Sports Board development series ranking tennis championship at the DHA Central Club courts. The former beat M. Yayha Gabol 8-4 while the latter humbled Abdullah Khan 8-2 in the pro-set final qualifiers. Two more players will join them in the 16-man main draw.

Qualifying round two: Arshad Shahid bt Mohib Alvi 8-3.

Final qualifying round: Naveed Fazail bt M. Yahya Gabol 8-4; Fahad Anwar bt Abdullah Khan 8–2.

Juniors’ under-17 singles:

Qualifying round two: Rafay Hafeez bt Aun Ahmed 8-3; Malik Hamza bt Ahsan Ismail 8-0.

Final qualifying round: M. Yahya Gabol bt Usman Arshad 8-6.

Boys and girls under-15 singles:

Qualifying round one: Salman Shafi bt Shehryar Shahid 8-0; Hasan Hameed bt Laiba Khan (walkover).

Boys and girls under-13 singles:

Qualifying round two: Farzan Azhar bt Sarim Khan 8-0; Dawer Khan bt Taha Allahwala 8-0.

Seniors’ 45 plus singles:

First round: Noorullah Dhanani (Hyderabad) bt Col. Aijaz Malik 6-1, 6-2.

Seniors’ 45 plus doubles:

First round: Azharuddin and Iqbal Javed bt Nimatullah Behan and Gulzar Firoz 6-0, 6-2; Moin Wahid and S. M. Jalal bt Arshad Abrar and Ahsan Hafeez 6-3, 6-2.
