PESHAWAR: Army won gold medal in the hockey event of the National Games by defeating Punjab in the thrilling final at the Abbottabad Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Neither side scored in the allotted time after which 15 minutes were given to them. The teams failed to score even in the extra time.

The sides were then awarded five penalty-strokes each which also levelled at the end.

In the sudden death penalty shoot-out, Punjab managed to score four while Army scored five to win the final.—APP
