25 suspects arrested

PESHAWAR, Dec 4: Police here on Saturday arrested 25 suspected people during raids in different localities and recovered arms and ammunition from some of them.

A police official said that security had been tightened in view of Muharramul Haram and the suspects were arrested from Peshtakhara, Badbher, Bara Qadeem, and Tela Band.

The official did not disclose names of the accused. However, he said that most of those arrested were Afghan nationals who had no valid documents for stay in Peshawar. He said that foreigners would be charged under 14 Foreign Act and deported after their production in the relevant court. The district police have also launched a campaign against use of tinted glass and pillion riding and arrested dozens of people for violation of Section 144. —Bureau Report
