LAHORE, Oct 23: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Saturday inaugurated the newly-constructed ‘Iftikhar Hall’ at the Lahore registry office of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, Justice Tassaduq Husain Jilani, Supreme Court registrar Dr Fariq Husain, SCBA president Qazi Muhammad Anwar, secretary Raja Zulqarnain and other lawyers were present on the occasion.

Speaking to the lawyers, the chief justice said role of the bar was like an institution wherefrom lawyers get professional as well as moral training. “Every lawyer is ethically bound to respect the bar and the bench,” he said. Highlighting the importance of the bar, the chief justice said learning process of lawyers begins at the bar which also teaches them the lesson to establish the rule of law.

SCBA president Qazi Anwar said lawyers always struggled for the establishment of the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution and would never leave the judiciary in lurch in any critical situation.

Talking to reporters, the SCBA president said the prime minister had offered SCBA huge grants but he had refused to accept the same.
