Abducted man recovered

TAXILA, Oct 20: A young man, abducted for ransom, has been recovered from Charsadda, police sources said. Sub-divisional police officer Taxila circle Raja Tafoor while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday said that Tanveer Ahmed, a dairy farm owner, was abducted from Kohsar Colony. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the abductors hideout and recovered Tanvir unhurt.

In another incident Taxila police raided a gambling den and arrested three persons while gambling. — Correspondent

Operation against encroachers

ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) on Wednesday launched operation against the transport mafia who has occupied the green belt and service roads in various areas causing inconvenience to the people as well as passengers.

ITA Secretary Asya Gul said that high court had also directed capital administration to take action in this regard and get the green belts evicted.

She said the ITA had got service road on Priwadhai Mor vacated and removed illegal wagon stands in the first phase.

She said that enforcement wing of CDA had been involved in this operation and 14 vehicles had also been impounded. — Staff Reporter

Girl’s body found

ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: A girl was found murdered in the wooded area of G-14 on Wednesday, police said. Passersby spotted a suspicious sack lying in the wooded area and informed the police. The police arrived at the spot and found the body in the sack and shifted it to hospital for pending identification and legal process. The body seemed to be three to four days old.

The unidentified victim, said to be in her mid-20s, seemed to be a Pashtoon. The body bore wounds from a sharp-edged weapon in the neck and chest. — Staff Reporter
