MARDAN, Oct 16: Police claimed arresting 108 outlaws and seized a huge cache of arms during search operation in different parts of Mardan district, police sources said on Saturday.

The officials said among the arrested criminals some were wanted to police in different cases for long time, adding that the operation was carried out on the complaints of the residents regarding the growing incidents of robberies, kidnappings, murders and extortion of money.

During the operation launched under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Operations, Mir Qasim Khan, 29 Kalashnikovs, 22 Kalakovs, 18 rifles, 17 shotguns, 66 pistols, 17,975 gram hashish and 8 gram heroin were recovered.

The police sources pointed out that the search operation would continue in the suspected areas till the arrest of dangerous gangsters who were still at large.
