ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto had 20-minute telephonic talks with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday, sources close to the PPP told Dawn by telephone.

She thanked him for withdrawing the nomination papers in her support, but said she would have liked if he had remained in the contest. It would have served the democratic objectives, she added.

PPP chairperson also assured him of her full support in his struggle for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan. Both former premiers agreed to burry the past.
