LDA to confront PPP in Larkana

LARKANA, July 12: The Larkana Democratic Alliance (LDA) has decided to nominate its candidates against PPP throughout the district in the Oct 10 elections.

Altaf Unnar, a leader of the alliance, chaired a meeting here on Friday with all the component parties, including PPP-SB, Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA), Sindh National Front and Khaksar Tehrik.

The meeting took stock of the situation obtaining in the district and pledged that PPP would be given tough time.

It finalized the seat adjustments among the component parties and constituted a seven-member committee, head by Mr Unnar, to contact influential figures of the district to drum up support and widen the scope of the alliance.

The meeting was attended among others by Aijaz Shaikh and Sardar Zaffar Sangi, president and general secretary of the SDA, Larkana respectively, and Mir Mithal Khan Mughiri of PPP-SB.

The SNF chief, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, who is also the chairman of LDA, would preside over the next session of the LDA.

JSQM: About 50 activist of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) started a hunger strike on Friday in front of the Ratodero Press Club in protest against the arrests and excesses on the party workers by police in Shahdadkot.

They condemned the continued detention of the party chairman, Bashir Khan Qureshi, who was picked up one month back and was not released despite being granted bail in all the cases registered against him.

The hunger strikers included Momin Sammo, organizer of the JSQM, Larkana, Zahid Leghari and Babu Rahim Soomro.
