ISLAMABAD, May 28 The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) have filed a criminal act report with the security authorities in Germany with the intention of not allowing their missing team trainer Gul Bostan to succeed in his attempt to hide there.

Gul Bostan went missing in Germany while accompanying the national taekwondo contingent in April to appear in the three-day German Open Masters tournament.

PTF secretary-general Wasim Ahmed informed on Thursday that the federation had been following the case and was hopeful to locate Gul Bostan.

“Axel Michael, head of the Pakistan contingent and a German national, has filed a request with the German police authorities about the trainer, which will prevent him [Bostan] from claiming political asylum in any part of Europe,” Wasim said.

The three-page criminal act report including a brief history of Bostan's last received phone calls from Spain, his passport number and the series of efforts carried out by the federation, was made available to Dawn.

Wasim added “The federation has also sent a request to the director-general of the Federal Investigation Agency [FIA] in order to seek help from the Interpol to trace his [Bostan's] exact location.

“The trainer has not only brought a bad name to the taekwondo family but also damaged the reputation of the country,” he said.

According to him, the federation had participated in 29 international events including international-level training programmes around the world and there have been no such incidents before this.

He pointed out “Despite all the hardships, the PTF will continue with its work journey to promote sports in the region and our aim is to win a spot in 2012 London Olympics.”

The PTF is also looking for help from the Pakistan Sports Board and the ministry of sports to promote the game in the country.
