DERA ISMAIL KHAN, March 14 A man and his wife were shot dead by motorcyclists in Nolbagh, Cantonment police area, here on Saturday.

Three armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on Mohammad Sharif, head clerk in the Anti-Terrorism Court, Dera Ismail Khan, and his wife, a schoolteacher, who were coming home from duty. The two were injured and taken to the District Headquarter Hospital, where they died.

The victims were later laid to rest at the Kotli Imam Hussian graveyard amid moving scenes.

Police termed it a sectarian incident.

Tense calm prevailed in the city and shopkeepers pulled down shutters of their shops.

It may be recalled that Ikram Patwari, brother of the deceased Sharif, had also been shot dead on Nov 26, 2005, in Dera Ismail Khan.—Correspondent
