ISLAMABAD Top seeds Aqeel Khan and Asim Shafique advanced into the final of the national clay court championship here on Saturday.

Aqeel faced little trouble beating Abid Ali in the first semi-final. He won the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.

Number two seed, Asim Shafique however, had to fight through his match with Tanvir Ashiq to make to the semis. Although the match was decided in two sets, Tanvir gave Asim a tough fight, who won the first set 7-5 but the second set went into a tie-break, which Asim eventually won 7-6 (8-6).

Meanwhile Aqeel Khan and Rasheed Malik bagged the men`s doubles title, beating Asim Shafique and Hameedul Haq 6-3, 6-1.

Earlier, Sara Mehboob beat Saba Aziz to set up a final with Ushna Sohail, who overcame Sara Mansoor on Friday.

The men`s and women`s finals will be played on Sunday.
