SIALKOT, April 25: Another child was killed while his father and a villager received serious injuries in mortar shelling by Indian troops on Anolla village of the Sialkot working boundary’s Sucheetgarh sector late Wednesday night.
Sources said Qamar Abbas (12), his father Muhammad Hussain and Muhammad Nawaz were sitting in the courtyards of their houses when mortar shells hit them, killing the child instantly and injuring seriously both of them. They were admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.
The Chenab Rangers on Thursday morning foiled another Indian attempt of fencing near Jammu and Saamba sectors of the working boundary, destroying a big ammunition vehicle of the Indian army. Four Indian armymen were reportedly struck by lightning and died while fencing the boundary.
Meanwhile, the Indian security forces continued shelling on villages in Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Sucheetgarh, Charwa, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors of the working boundary, badly disrupting the harvesting of seasonal crops.
STRIKE:Chemists and druggists on Thursday observed a complete strike in Sialkot and Narowal districts against the imposition of 15 per cent General Sales Tax (GST) on medicines.
All medical stores also remained closed at Daska, Bhopalwala, Sambrial, Ugoki, Pasrur, Chawinda, Bodiana, Shakargarh, Zafarwal and Baddomalhi.
The protesters termed the government decision of imposing the GST on medicines a cruel step which should be withdrawn in the larger interest of the general public.
VISITED:Director general Engineer Rashid Al Leem and commercial director of Hamriyah Tax Free Zone in Sharjah (HFZ) Zaheer Hussain on Thursday visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Discussing various issues of mutual interests, they hailed the unique export culture of Sialkot, saying there were bright opportunities of joint ventures between Pakistan and Sharjah.
