KOHAT: Kidnapped baby found in Swat

Published February 13, 2005

KOHAT, Feb 12: Police on Saturday claimed to have found the baby girl from Swat who had been kidnapped from the labour room of a Kohat hospital five months back.

The baby was in the custody of Inspector Yaqoob Khan of the Kohat Bureau of Investigation and would be handed over to her parents after receiving the DNA test report.

In October, an unidentified woman had kidnapped the baby from the Liaquat Memorial Hospital, Kohat, sources said. Payo Afzal, the apparent father of the baby, had lodged an FIR with the city police station, saying that his wife had given birth to a baby girl.

However, he added, when they asked the staff to bring the baby as they were leaving the hospital they were informed that somebody had kidnapped their daughter.

A case was registered against the unidentified kidnapper.
