MANDI BAHAUDDIN, June 27: Former provincial minister Pir Binyamin Rizvi, who was assassinated in Lahore on Saturday, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Phalia amid tight security on Sunday.

Some 20,000 people attended the funeral prayers for the former provincial minister.

Prominent among the participants were: PML-N central leaders Khawaja Sa'd Rafique, district president Dewan Mushtaq Ahmed, MPA Rana Sanaullah, Punjab MMA secretary Syed Muhammad Mehfooz Mashhadi, Ahle Sunnat Mushaikh wing's central chief Peer Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah, former Punjab minister Sahibzada Fazl Kareem, District Nazim Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Mandi Bahauddin Tehsil Nazim Shehzad Anjum, PPP district president Zafarullah Tarar, MNA Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, District Naib Nazim Haji Imtiaz Ahmad and former federal state minister Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar.
