KOHAT, April 10: The district education department of Kohat has distributed textbooks free of charge in 620 primary schools here under the directive of the provincial government.

However, a majority of female students could not avail themselves of this facility due to non-availability of focal persons for the distribution of books in the girls primary schools, it has been learnt.

The district focal person for the project "free distribution of textbooks in the primary schools", Mr Akbar Jan, said that the Kohat zone had been divided into four circles and each had its own circle officer.

There is only one female circle officer for the four circles. These circles are Gumbat, Lachi, Kohat and Jarma.

The government has appointed Nasrullah Khan for Gumbat, Misal Khan for Jarma, Shoaib Khan for Kohat and Mohsin Shah for Lachi circles.

Akbar Jan said that three more female circle officers would be appointed soon and the girl students would also get the books soon.

He said that due to the shortage of some textbooks in the market, all the students could not get complete courses.
