RAWALPINDI, Feb 5: A man was killed and his mother injured in a road accident in Saddar Bairuni area on Thursday, police said.

Khurram Mukhtar, 23, was heading home on his motorbike along with his mother Hameeda Mukhtar when a cab, driven by Zaman, hit them. Khurram was killed on the spot while his mother received critical injuries. The woman was shifted to DHQ hospital while the cab driver was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, some thieves broke into the house of Abdul Waheed in Banni police area and stole prize bonds worth Rs500,000, gold ornaments and Rs20,000 cash.

Mohammad Abdul Waheed lodged a complaint with the Banni police saying that he along with his family had gone to visit his relatives. When he returned, he found the locks of his house broken and households scattered in the rooms. Upon listing the goods, he found prize bonds, gold ornaments and cash stolen.

In another incident, some thieves broke into the house of Mohammad Amir in Sadiqabad and took away gold ornaments and a television set.

Similarly, Mohammad Naeem told Pirwadhai police that thieves broke into his house and stole his motorbike.
