HYDERABAD, April 21: Former employees of the defunct Sindh Road Transport Company have threatened to commit self-immolation on May 1 if they are not paid their dues. They held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday.

Employees Action Committee president Ghulam Mohammad Depar told journalists that if the government did not pay the former employees the dues by April 30 in accordance with a written agreement of Dec 6, 1999, seven former employees would immolate themselves on May 1.

The former employees have been holding demonstrations against the non-implementation of the agreement for 651 days.

SPSF-SB: Activists of the Sindh People’s Students Federation-SB, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences unit, observed a black day here on Thursday to protest alleged excesses against their colleagues in the Chandka Medical College, Larkana. A group of students also held a protest demonstration outside the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramzan Chandio, Dr Ashiq Palijo, Dr Adeel Memon and others accused the Larkana police of raiding houses of SPSF-SB activists.
