LARKANA, Jan 10: The district and sessions judge, conducting a judicial inquiry into the Qambar incident, on Monday recorded statements of more than 15 people.

The people whose statements were recorded included Ghulam Umar Magsi, the main complainant, Ayub Khanzado, Ghulam Abbas Buriro, Hafeez Hakiro and Gul Mohammad Chacho.

They stated that police had opened fire on protesting residents on Dec 24 in which Madad Ali Magsi, Abdul Fatah Tunio, Riaz Buriro and Nasir Khanzada had been killed.

Meanwhile, Dadu DPO Jawed Alam Odho, who is heading the Sindh IGP's inquiry committee, on Monday summoned suspended police -fficers, Qambar TPO Syed Sahib Shah, Larkana Saddar TPO Ghulam Abbas Gadhi, Qambar SHO Habiur Rehman Abro, Shahdadkot SHO Abdul Hakeem Bullo, Mashota SHO Ashraf Lashari and Dhamraha SHO Ali Raza alias Jani Shah -, nominated in the FIR, and recorded their statements. The inquiry officer will visit Qambar on Tuesday and record statements of other people.

PROTEST: Activists of the Citizen's Action Committee on Monday continued their protest against the incident by observing a hunger strike. Bhao Dur Mohammad Buriro, Nazeer Tunio, Ateeq Shah, Deedar Wadho and Dr Qurban Rajpar were among the protesters.

They demanded that police officers involved in the killing of four people in Qambar should be arrested and district status of Qambar be restored. Larkana Khaksar Tehrik activists, led by Dr Sabhya Mughal, held a protest demonstration in the Lahori locality. They later assembled at the Alama Mushrqi Road.
