KASUR, Jan 2: The government is making all out efforts to provide basic amenities to the people in every nook and corner of the country.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri while inaugurating Sui gas supply to Kasur and the luxury bus stand at Kashmir Chowk here on Sunday.

The minister said the present government believed in practical work and not merely in hollow slogans. He said the provision of gas facility and other development work in Kasur was enough proof of it.

He lauded Zaki brothers for upgrading the local bus stand and providing better transport facilities to the people commuting between Kasur and Lahore. Later, Mr Kasuri went to Kasur Public School where he laid the foundation stone of the auditorium. At least Rs6 million would be spent on the construction of the multi-purpose auditorium.

The foreign minister also took oath from the newly-elected office bearers of the Anjuman-i-Tajran at Bulleh Shah Road. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the traders were the backbone of country as they had a major share in the economic development.

He said Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi would visit Kasur in the next few days to inaugurate the project of Kasur-Lahore dual carriageway. He said the road would lead to Ganda Singhwala which could be used for trade between India and Pakistan as well.
