NEW DELHI, Dec 15: Indian officials have told Pakistan that the Baglihar hydro-electric dam project on the river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir did not violate the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, the Press Trust of India said on Wednesday.

The PTI quoted officials participating in the nuclear and conventional CBM talks in Islamabad as saying that India had provided additional data on the project wanted by Pakistan, as a goodwill gesture.

"Indian officials, who are currently in Pakistan for talks on nuclear and conventional CBMs, also took the opportunity to present the additional data wanted by Pakistan on the dam as a 'goodwill gesture', the PTI said.

While presenting the data, Indian officials have told the Pakistan side that India has fully complied with the provisions of the Indus Water Treaty while building the 430mw hydro-electric project and rejected Pakistan's stand that it is in violation of the treaty, the PTI quoted the officials as saying.

Pakistan has been informed that talks at the water secretaries-level could be considered after Pakistan studied the data.
