SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Heavily-armed militants attacked a police patrol in occupied Kashmir on Friday and killed four officials in the second such attack in two days.

The militants attacked the patrol with grenades and rifle fire shortly before dawn in the village of Magani, Kathua district, a police spokesman said.

He said all four policemen died at the scene while the militants escaped with their weapons, including two rifles, as well as two radio sets. Two policemen were killed and five others wounded on Thursday in an attack on a camp near the town of Shopian.

The Hizbul Mujahideen claimed responsibility for both the attacks. The group also claimed responsibility for a landmine explosion that killed 10 Indian soldiers and a civilian on Sunday. -AFP
