MARDAN, Nov 22: Nov 22: A meeting was held here on Monday to review Unicef-supported health and nutrition projects. The review-cum-planning meeting was chaired by Unicef's provincial chief Usama Makkawi.

It was also attended by DCO Khalid Hussein, EDO (health) Dr Abdur Rahim, provincial deputy director of EPI Dr Wahid, Dr Jamil of Unicef, Dr Hidayat, nazim of Takhtbai tehsil, Dr Abid.

Dr Sardar highlighted the importance of iodized salt, breast-feeding, care during childbirth and importance of polio vaccination besides briefing about a number of health department development schemes.

DCO Khalid Hussein called for better coordination between NCHD, the health department and various NGOs and said that steering committees would be made active at various levels.

The provincial chief of the Unicef said that the organization was ready to offer cooperation in other projects in the district. He said that hurdles in the way of development schemes would be removed and further planning would be evolved.

Dr Hidayat offered his cooperation to the Nazim of Takhtbai in all health-related projects.
