ABBOTTABAD, Sept 29: A joint action committee of the DHQ hospital has demanded release of a doctor and a nurse, who were arrested after the death of a patient in the hospital.

Dr Ashfaq and staff nurse Fauzia were arrested along with another doctor and a chemist under sections 302 and 324 two weeks ago after a patient died allegedly due to administration of a wrong injection.

Later, the chemist and a doctor were released, but the sessions court rejected the bail application of Dr Ashfaq and nurse Fauzia. The joint action committee, which comprises doctors and paramedics of the DHQ hospital Abbottabad, sharply reacted to the arrest of the pair and demanded their release. The JAC decided that a strike would be observed at the hospital if the pair was not released without delay.

UPLIFT SCHEMES: The Acting district Nazim of Abbottabad, Barrister Javed Abbasi, has asked all executing agencies and departments to complete their ongoing schemes in the district before Oct 15.

This he said while presiding over a meeting of heads of line departments here on Wednesday. He also issued directive for the early release of payments to contractors who had completed their works, added that no compromise would be made on the quality of work for which he directed the executing agencies to keep a vigilant eye on the ongoing schemes.

Regarding the early completion of schemes, the acting Nazim said that due to start of rainy season and snowfall in Galyat and other hilly areas, works could be delayed if schemes are not completed in time.
