KOHAT, Sept 20: The district police officer dismissed 12 policemen from service and awarded various punishments to 472 other officials for negligence in duty and highhandedness, it has been learnt.

Chairing a monthly crimes committee meeting in his office, SSP Dr Ishtiaq Marwat warned the police officials that nobody was above the law and any-one found guilty of misusing authority and delinquency would be dealt with accordingly under the police ordinance 2002.

He said while the drive against social menace would continue the accountability of policemen would also be carried out to make police disciplined and people-friendly force.

He also announced names of 126 policemen who had been awarded cash prizes and certificates for showing exemplary performance and effectively controlling crimes in their area of jurisdiction.

He suspended two sub-inspectors, five head constables and 17 constables, stopped annual increments of three sub-inspectors, one head constable and nine constables, sent 12 policemen to quarters guard who were found absent from duty or were not properly dressed, suspended salaries of 191 SIs and head constables, imposed heavy fines on 216 officials and also dismissed four trainee officials from service. Similarly, two officials were warned to improve their performance.

He told SHOs and in charge of police posts that he would awarded harsh punishments if he received any complaint from the public especially against those involved in corruption.
