HYDERABAD, Aug 31: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has expressed concern over the privatization policy of the Sindh government and said that denationalization of educational institutions will hit children of poor people.

The association's Latifabad taluka college chapters, at a joint meeting held here on Tuesday, demanded that the Sindh government should review its policy in the interest of poor students.

It further demanded that seniority lists of nationalized cadre and government cadre teachers should be kept separate and a covering notification of promotion of college teachers under the four-tier formula be issued without delay.

The SPLA said vacancies of college teachers should be filled, move-over cases be decided, librarians and directors of physical education be promoted, permanent principals be appointed in colleges and separate EDOs be posted in each district for colleges on the pattern of Karachi.

The meeting called upon the vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh to hold elections for the university senate and the academic council and not to charge late fees from students on examination forms.

Teachers of the Government Ghazali College, Government Intermediate College and the Government Postgraduate College attended the meeting, which was presided over by Prof Ghazanfar Ali Shah. Those who spoke on the occasion included Prof Liaquat Aziz, Prof Siddiq Unnar, Prof Nazeer Pathan and Prof Raees Khanzada.

LUMHS: The registrar of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, here on Tuesday announced that application forms and entry test forms for admission to first year MBBS/BDS, 2004-05 session, could be submitted up to Sept 18.
