MIANWALI, Aug 25: District Nazim Humair Hayat Khan Rokhri has called upon the young generation to learn different skills and professions to earn their livelihood. This he said while distributing cheques of Rs5,000 each among 74 qualified students of the Vocational Training Institute, Muslim Bazaar, here on Wednesday.

He said that all the educated youths wanted jobs particularly in the government sector which was not possible for any government. The district Nazim said the population of the district was 10,569,00 as per the 1998 census while the number of vacant posts in all the provincial departments were no more than 1,500.

He said at least 200,000 educated people would remain jobless despite filling all these posts. About a separate building for VTI's female students, he said the district government had approved the vacant Social Welfare Department building, Sanatzar, but the Punjab government did not allow. He, however, promised to provide a separate building soon.

Speaking on the occasion, VTI administrator Col Muhammad Saleem apprised the district Nazim of different programmes now in progress. He demanded funds from the local government for the renovation and repair of the building. VTI principal Furrukh Bashir and board of governors president Nadeem Alam also spoke on the occasion.
