SUKKUR, June 23: Wapda has announced a policy for payment of detection bills by domestic and commercial consumers of electricity up to four kilowatts. A Hesco official said here on Tuesday in case of wrong issuance of detection bills, the official concerned would have to pay the amount.

Hesco sources said no SDO of Hesco would be allowed to conduct raids for checking electricity theft without involvement of the staff concerned, and after sunset. They said breakage of meter seals and scratches on the meter would not be considered electricity theft.

They said if a hole was found in a meter, it would be considered power theft. In such cases, detection bills would be issued to consumers. No case would be registered against consumers who were found involved in theft of less than 1,000 units of electricity, they added.

A Hesco official said meters running two per cent slow would be ignored. He said a consumer who was issued a detection bill would be given a chance to express his point of view before the circle committee of Hesco.

KILLED: Unidentified bandits gunned down a villager in Vasti Jeevan Shah, district Ghotki, on Tuesday. Sources said armed dacoits entered the house of Akbar Khan in Belo village near Daharki and started collecting valuable. When Akbar Khan tried to resist, the dacoits opened fire on him and fled. Akbar Khan died on the spot.
